Capaldi Costume-Cardigan Alternatives

One of the great things about the 12th Doctor's costume is the accessibility of similar products at reasonable prices, none more so than the cardigan. Cardigans are a wardrobe necessity for some, so most clothing retailers sell cardigans that can be used as an alternative for cosplayers on a budget. For some context, the John Smedley Cardigan used in the actual costume is £150, which for many cosplayers might be the budget for an entire costume. So, let's look at some worthy alternatives.

First up is this reasonable offering from Next. It appears to be a very similar navy to the actual cardigan used, and crucially does not feature pockets, which are not seen on the costume. At just £22, this should be a fairly accessible alternative for most cosplayers. Buy the Next cardigan

For those wishing to spend even less, this black offering from Matalan offers a suitable alternative to the original garment. At just £12 it does represent good value for money, and if you are willing to compromise with the colour, as with the coat I showed previously this is a great alternative for those on a budget. Buy this Matalan cardigan
I haven't spent hours researching cardigans, but other cardigans I have seen have featured pockets, which do not feature on the costume, and some have buttons that are too light a colour and would be noticed. Although not quite the right colours, both of these cardigans would do fine for a 12th doctor costume on a budget. The Next cardigan is too light, and the Matalan garment too dark, so pick your side and relish in the pounds saved.
